Advanced Technology of Computer
This one-year certificate will provide students with advanced skills in the telecommunication industry. The courses in this certificate are aligned to the Electronic Systems Professional Alliance (ESPA) entry-level Electronic Systems Technicians (ESTs) industry certification. Course alignments are also made with BICSI Information Technology Systems Installer I. This information and communications technology industry certification covers the design and installation of pathways, fiber optic and copper-based distribution systems, wireless-based systems and infrastructure that supports the transportation of information between and among communications and information gathering devices. Graduates from this program find employment supporting telephone, Voice-Over-IP (VoIP) systems, networking, security and broadband technology infrastructures.
This one-semester specialization will provide students with the foundation technical skills required in the use of computers and the Internet. Students will learn entry-level skills needed to effectively use the latest computer and Internet technologies in a business environment. Graduates will have knowledge in the areas of technology including computer hardware, software, operating systems, networking, basic word processing applications, presentation media, Internet and electronic mail. Many of our graduates apply the credits earned in the Computer and Internet Specialist certificate degree to the Computer Maintenance Specialist certificate and Computer Maintenance Technology Associate of Applied Sciences degrees.
This one-semester specialization will provide students with the foundation skills in the telecommunication industry. Students will learn traditional telecommunication systems such as telephony, broadband and structured cabling systems. Their studies will include the latest telecommunication technologies including voice, data and images to deliver telephony, Internet and video services to end users. Graduates from this program find employment supporting telephone, Voice-Over-IP (VoIP), and broadband technology infrastructures. Many of our graduates apply the credits earned in the Voice and Data Technician certificate degree to the Telecommunication Technology certificate degree.
